Hollymead is a beautiful, established, planned community in northern Albemarle County located off of Route 29 North enjoying easy access to shopping in the county, Charlottesville area, and the airport.
It was established in the early 1970's with an abundance of residential choices, from single-family homes, many in quiet cul-de-sacs, others with views of Hollymead Lake, to Somer Chase townhomes, Hollymead Square Townhomes and The Green's at Hollymead apartments.
Hollymead has over over 30 acres of common area, which include Lake Hollymead that is located on the north east border of Hollymead subdivision. Amenities offered to our residents include: Walking trails, Tot lot, Playground, Pool, Garbage Pickup, and Gardening (via the HCA Grounds committee).
Hollymead has miles of paved trails, a pool, and is the home of excellent neighborhood schools such as Hollymead Elementary, and Sutherland Middle all within walking distance. Both schools host a variety of seasonal athletic programs in their gyms and on their sports fields. It is also common to see a hot air balloon landing in these fields.
Hollymead is home of the Silver Thatch Inn which is one of the oldest historic Virginia homes in the central part of the state, dating back to 1780!
